Wood Flooring VS “Wood” Flooring

As of late, one of the largest flooring trends is ceramic tile that looks like hardwood flooring. There is no definite way to tell how or why this trend has begun, but the time to join in is now. Tile Gallery Incorporated has a wide variety of wood-looking floor tile. We can even tell you about the many benefits there are to having ceramic flooring over real hardwood flooring.

Ceramic tiles are more durable than hardwood, so your floor will resist chips and scratches. There is no fear of warping or distress from frequent treading. Ceramic floor tile also allows for underfloor radiant heating. This not only to lowers your energy costs, but it’s also more comfortable for bare feet to walk on.

Hardwood flooring is fairly limited when it comes to shape and length, but ceramic tiles come in a wide range of sizes. They can also be customized to fit whatever shape you need, not just long planks. Using ceramic floor tile ensures a uniform appearance throughout the entire room, whereas wood can vary in color and texture. The wood-looking ceramic tile can be found with an antique finish or with a glossy finish, depending on the style you want for your home.

Our design consultants are educated in the latest trends and can help you find the perfect floor tile for you, whether it be a single room or your entire home! Stop by our showroom today to see what wood-looking flooring we have in stock. We are located at 522 Amherst Street in Nashua.

For Your Bathroom

  • Remember Trends Change: When choosing tile colors, keep this in mind. While it may be the latest and greatest color right now, will it be a couple years from now? Stick to colors you absolutely love or neutral colors that complement a variety of color schemes. Remember, sometimes a safer choice is a smarter choice in the long run.
  • Prioritize Practicality: In the kids’ bathroom, expensive glass tile isn’t the best option. Whereas, ceramic tile is durable and better for high-traffic areas. Texture surfaces are designed to withstand wear and tear, and they even hide dirt and scuff marks.
  • Keep Size in Mind: Tilework can make or break the look and feel of a bathroom. If your guest bath is on the smaller side, think about using white or light colors and larger tiles to make the space feel less cramped and more spacious.

    For Your Kitchen

    • Consider Your Options: Tile comes in all types, shapes, sizes, colors, and prices. For this reason, walking into a kitchen tile showroom may seem overwhelming. Think about what makes the most sense for your personal style and desired budget. Doing your homework pays off when it comes to selecting just the right fit for your space.
    • Think About Lifestyle: Are you newly married and remodeling your first home together? Or do you have kids running around the house and leaving behind messes? Every household is different, and choosing kitchen tile to match your lifestyle will make your life easier.
    • Get Creative: The beauty of tile backsplashes is they don’t see the same wear and tear as tile floors. This means you can choose something a little more fun, and a little less practical. If you want to add decorative flair to your kitchen, this is the way to do it without stressing about the everyday maintenance as much.

Our last tip? Ask a pro! At Tile Gallery, we see tiles for all sorts of spaces, and we can help you with the selection process. Stop by our tile store to browse the latest bath tile and kitchen tile we have in stock. Don’t be afraid to ask questions; that’s what our tile designers are here for! Our customers come from Manchester, NH; Nashua, NH; Bedford, NH; Amherst, NH; and Windham, NH for tile selection advice.

What is mosaic tile? Mosaic tile is any combination of materials such as glass, ceramic, porcelain or stone, usually set in a small format and set on a mesh sheet for easy installation. With hundreds of mosaics to choose from, how do you know when and where to use the mosaic? Mosaics can be incorporated into the design of any backsplash, shower, bath or floor. Tile Gallery Incorporated in NH is ready to help with the selection process, and incorporate that stunning mosaic tile into your design.

When designing a shower, mosaics can be used several different ways to really bring that “wow” factor to your bathroom. A linear glass mosaic running vertically floor to ceiling can add a stunning waterfall effect. Conversely, a mosaic running horizontally in a shower, or in the back of a niche, could bring in that subtle pop of needed color.

Mosaics are perfect to use as a backsplash in full, or as an accent with ceramic or stone subway style tile. Small or larger format mosaic tile used as an entire backsplash are a great way to add dimension and character to a kitchen. It’s also a good way to ground all of the various colors and finishes in a kitchen and surrounding rooms. If the countertop wants to be the main focus of the space, you can either use a few inches of mosaic at the base of the backsplash and then transition into a stone or ceramic tile above, or you can simply break up a mosaic sheet and add one decorative strip as an elegant design element.

When you want to incorporate mosaics into a backsplash, as an accent to your kitchen or bath, or as a border in your flooring design, there is no better resource than Tile Gallery Incorporated in Nashua NH. One could get overwhelmed with the daunting task of selecting the right backsplash tile or mosaic that matches perfectly with the surrounding materials. If available, we recommend bringing a sample of your countertop and/or cabinets with you to make the process even simpler.

The staff on hand at Tile Gallery Incorporated in Nashua has 60 years of combined experience in tile design and installation to make this selection process easy, and even enjoyable for everyone.

Tile is a building material with almost limitless aesthetic potential and can easily be used to design spaces that are completely timeless. That is to say, it’s hard to clearly define what tile design styles are currently “trending,” but, there are definitely a few design ideas to keep an eye on in 2015. So, for all of you DIY-ers, interior designers and home improvement enthusiasts planning to work with tile in NH now or in the near future, we’d like to share some of what the “tile insiders” are excited about this year.

    1. New ways to use mosaic tile in NH – This year, mosaic tile is going places it’s never been before and coming out in new and interesting shapes. Imagine a mosaic of uniquely shaped tiles like triangles, ovals, hexagons or marquise. Tile resembling natural stone is currently trending and adds hints of luxury to any space. Marble or limestone mosaics might be for you. Using grout to match or offset interesting, specialty shaped tiles can greatly add to the overall style you’re going for. Even glass mosaic tiles are getting away from the traditional 1 x 1 shape. In 2015, we’re seeing pencil tiles and metallic finishes bringing mosaic tile to a new level.

    2. A change in the color palette – In 2015, gray will continue to be the most popular color, but other neutral colors like taupe, clay and soft shades of black are growing in popularity as well. The contrast between neutral colors and pastels like greens and blues are increasing in popularity and create a subtle, calming effect in the spaces they make up. You’ll also see an uptick in the use of colors like purple, peach and coral used as backdrops for the other colors in a room’s design.

    3. Tile with softer textures – Of course high-gloss and polished tile will always be in demand, 2015 will see tile with semi-gloss or matte finishes being used more because they help to create a softer, calmer, more welcoming feel. Tile that elicits an overall softer feel will be big this year.

    4. Tile reminiscent of the subway – An interesting trend for 2015 is the use of tile that makes you feel as if you’re in a subway! (No, not the restaurant.) It’s industrious and vintage look can produce a surprisingly elegant and interesting room anywhere it’s used. These are but a few of the many popular ways to use tile in NH this year. In our last blog, we went over five benefits of working with ceramic tile when remodeling your home or property. In this blog, we’re going to discuss five more benefits that you’ll get when you choose to work with ceramic tile. But first, we’d like to take this opportunity to remind you that, at Tile Gallery Incorporated, we’re more than just a place to buy building materials. Our deep appreciation for tile has allowed us to evolve into the premier source for tile for New Englanders serious about home remodeling, interior and exterior design, and for weekend warriors with a keen eye for quality over quantity.

This is why we’ve developed a showroom to display beautiful, diverse and exquisite tile in a relaxed atmosphere where we let the tile do the talking for us. This isn’t to say that we don’t have in-store design consultants that you can bounce ideas off of. No, we’re simply a tile store whose creative staff thrives off of helping your vision become a reality. So, with that being said, let’s discuss five more benefits of working with ceramic tile.

    1. Moisture resistant – Ceramic tile is an extremely dense material that permits almost zero moisture accumulation, so common household spills won’t be a problem.
    2. Finishes and textures – Ceramic tile comes in almost limitless finishes and textures that can be used to accent any décor. You can use ceramic tile to take on the look of natural stones like travertine, slate or marble and can choose ceramic tile with textures that provide more grip for high traffic areas.
    3. Colors – It’s hard to imagine a color that ceramic tile can’t be found in. When it comes to ceramic tile, colors are not made to be exact, but consistent; meaning you’ll find slight variations in color among different pieces of tile. This gives tile its unique look and uncanny ability to easily accent any type of interior or exterior décor.
    4. Retains color – Even significant, prolonged exposure to sunlight doesn’t change the color of ceramic tile or cause its color to fade.
    5. Long lasting – Porcelain tile and ceramic tile have been used for centuries because they last long. It’s precisely their long life cycle and durability that has made porcelain and ceramic tile the most popular flooring materials available. They’re not going to have to be replaced regularly (like laminate, carpet or vinyl flooring) if installed properly and will last a lifetime.
We hope that these two blogs have reminded you just how beneficial ceramic tile is to work with. In a world where we regularly see modern structures falling apart, tile is here to stay.

Most people that are remodeling their home have to start from the ground up; meaning they have to choose the right flooring for the area they’re going to be working on. Of course there’s hardwood flooring, but that doesn’t easily withstand scratches and can be easily damaged by water. Then there’s carpet – also a fairly good choice but it isn’t resistant to stains and can often contribute to poor indoor air quality by trapping microscopic dust and debris. Then, of course, there’s ceramic tile floors. Not only does ceramic tile come in an almost unlimited amount of styles, colors, and textures, but it’s also scratch resistant, water resistant, stain resistant and exceptionally hygienic.

When you’re thinking of what kind of flooring you’d like to use for your next project, consider the following benefits that come with working with ceramic tile.

    1. Ease of maintenance – Because ceramic tile is stain, odor and dirt resistant, it can be easily cleaned with a mop and some light household cleaners while remaining durable enough to withstand heavy traffic areas and exposure to water.
    2. Environmentally-friendly – Made of natural materials, ceramic tile has no effect on the natural environment and can easily be recycled – significantly reducing your personal carbon footprint.
    3. Fire resistant – Ceramic tile won’t burn and release toxic fumes. Dropped cigarettes, hot kitchen skillets and pans will do no damage to ceramic tile.
    4. Scratch resistant – Glazed ceramic tiles are graded for hardness. Working with Grade III or Grade IV ceramic tile, you won’t have to worry about your floor being easily scratched, cracked or broken like you would with other popular forms of flooring.
    5. Hygienic – Because ceramic tile is hygienic, it is recommended for any area where sanitary standards are extremely high. Ceramic tile also doesn’t trap in allergens, dust mites, mold or bacteria that can decrease your property’s indoor air quality.
These are but five of the many benefits you’ll find when working with ceramic tile for your next remodeling project. We’ll discuss even more in our next blog. We hope that the above-mentioned qualities inherent in ceramic tile have peaked your interest enough to give our showroom a visit at 522 Amherst St. Rte. 101A in Nashua, NH!

The kitchen sees a lot of action. From preparing meals to cooking to sharing time with friends and family and everything in between, the kitchen plays host to a wide variety of activities. And some of these activities can be quite messy. That’s why having a ceramic tile backsplash in kitchens has become such a popular addition in kitchens all around the world. In order to handle all the sprays, spills, and thrills that are common around the kitchen sink, a ceramic tile backsplash works to make messes less of a headache.

There are numerous benefits that come along with having a ceramic tile backsplash in your kitchen, and we’d like to share five of the most important ones with you today!

    1. Easy maintenance and cleaning – Ceramic tile is extremely sleek and slippery. Accidentally spilling or splashing a ceramic tile backsplash with tomato sauce, for example, will be an easy clean up job. All you need is some paper towels and warm water.
    2. Easily replaced – At Tile Gallery Incorporated, we always recommend that you let experienced professionals handle your tile installation needs but, in fact, ceramic tile is fairly easy to install so can be replaced at any time without a fuss.
    3. Increases kitchen value – Because a ceramic tile backsplash makes your kitchen look much better, it significantly increases the overall value of the kitchen itself. By investing a small amount of money into installing a new backsplash in your kitchen, you could easily see a substantial financial return.
    4. Environmentally conscious – Ceramic tile is made of only natural materials and is easy to recycle and reuse, so has a very small impact on the natural environment.
    5. Unlimited style and design options – Ceramic tile comes in many different styles, shapes, and sizes; giving you more design choices and creative freedom when designing your kitchen backsplash. And, because tile is easy to uninstall and reinstall, you can experiment with a multitude of options.

It’s hygienic, moisture resistant, stain resistant, comes in a dizzying array of styles and colors, it’s a blast to design with, and we’ve got it all! Yea, we’re talking about tile. At Tile Gallery Incorporated, we have bathroom tile that ranges from classic, Greco-Roman style architecture to styles reminiscent of 70s flair to tile as modern as those you’d find in a sheik, newly built Boston penthouse, and anything else you can imagine. Bathroom tile is a thrill to design with. Whether you’re using glass tile or ceramic tile or mosaic tile, you’ll find that there is really no end to how you can decorate your new bathroom with strikingly beautiful tile from Tile Gallery Incorporated.

And, because we believe that an informed customer is a satisfied customer, we’d like to go over ten tips to keep in mind when working with bathroom tile.

    1. Choose carefully – Go ahead and take the time to think about what kind of tile you really want. And, if you want to consult our in-house designers, feel free! If you’re going to be installing the tile yourself, make sure you have all the accessories necessary to make your bathroom tile last a long time.
    2. Install tile on a water-resistant background – Failure to install tile on an already water-resistant background like cement or specific water-resistant tile backing is often the culprit when tile fails.
    3. Be bold – The bathroom is rather small. Feel free to express yourself by being as unique as you’d like when designing with tile.
    4. Adhesive – Make sure you use a high quality adhesive when installing bathroom tile.
    5. Change the feeling of your bathroom – Using large tiles, for example, will make a small bathroom feel larger, while glass tiles can work to make it feel much brighter.
    6. Go ALL in – A newly tiled bathroom can significantly increase the value of your home, so be sure to invest a good deal of time designing and installing your bathroom tile.
    7. Slip-resistant – For safety’s sake, look for slip-resistant tile for your bathroom.
    8. Heated floors – Heated floors add a sense of luxury in an extremely cost efficient way.
    9. Use the best equipment – If you’re installing your bathroom tile yourself, make sure to get the highest quality equipment to do the job right!
    10. Time management – It generally takes a rookie about three times as much time to correctly install tile as it would a professional. Make sure you have adequate time to devote to your bathroom tile project.
